Sloppy Glory ‘gifted’ Roar winner: Lowe

Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe lamented the “schoolboy error” which led to Brisbane Roar’s lone-goal winner at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors did much of the chasing throughout the first 45 minutes but were left to rue a self-inflicted defensive error for Henrique’s goal.

“Especially (disappointed) that we’ve gifted them a goal,” Lowe said.

“You don’t mind with the quality they have in their team if they work something and it’s a quality finish or a great move from them.

Brisbane Roar moved to the top of the Hyundai A-League with a 1-0 win over Perth Glory.

“But ultimately we’ve gifted that goal to them.

The result keeps Perth to just one win and four defeats from their opening five matches, leaving the Westfield FFA Cup finalists languishing in ninth.

Young prospects Hagi Gligor, Aryn Williams, Alex Grant and Jamal Reiners all received opportunities in search of an equaliser, but Lowe conceded his side missed a cutting edge.

“They all did okay. They worked hard,” the Glory boss said.

“They were genuine, honest. But we lacked a bit of creativity to tell the truth.”
