Sydney FC winger Filip Holosko is relishing his reunion with strike partner Bobô at the Sky Blues for the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.
Holosko and the Brazilian striker forged a reputable partnership at Turkish club Besiktas between 2008 and 2011, and the Slovakian is hoping to rekindle this partnership during the pairs’ time in Australia.
Holosko lauded Bobô’s qualities, as the pair combined in Turkey to claim the Turkish Super League in the 2008/09 season and the Turkish cup twice in 2008/09 and 2010/11.
“I’m very happy for Bobô to be at Sydney FC,” he said.
“He is a great player. We spent three or four years together in Turkey, scored lots of goals and won the league and Turkish cup and I believe we can do this with Sydney FC this year.
“I think he has improved since our time in Turkey,” he continued.
“When we played together we played very good, he is the leading scorer at Besiktas and I think he is one of the best foreigner goalscorers [in Beskitas’ history].
“He is a good striker, he is good in the box and makes good runs behind the defence. His left and right foots are both good and he is also good in the air.”
Holosko played a role in luring Besiktas’ all-time leading goal scorer to Sydney FC and said he believes their familiarity will aid Sydney FC’s pursuit of silverware in 2016/17.
“I spoke to him about coming [to Sydney] and I am glad he is here now,” Holosko said.
“I think he will be good for us, will help us in the attack and will help us win the Premiership and Grand Final.”
Sydney FC are next in action against Blacktown City FC in the Westfield FFA Cup Quarter Finals at Sydney United Sports Centre, Edensor Park (kick off 7:30pm). Ticketing details will be released in the coming days.
