Sky Blues ready for ‘fiery’ City clash: Grant

Sydney FC defender Rhyan Grant predicts Saturday night’s clash with Melbourne City to live up to the ‘fiery’ nature we’ve come to expect between the two club’s this season.

PREVIEW: Sydney FC v City

Grant returns to the Sky Blues squad after missing round 24 away on international duties with the Caltex Socceroos.

RIVALRY BREWING BETWEEN THE CLUBS

Sydney FC and City have met three times already this season – including a bruising Westfield FFA Cup final – with each clash packed with drama and physical confrontations.

“Every clash against them gets a little fiery. I think both teams thrive off that, so if that was too happen on the weekend then it wouldn’t surprise me,” Grant said.

“It creates a good atmosphere and a very tense sort of game, so it’s good for the neutral.

“I’m sure [Saturday night] will be no different, but we’ll be ready for it.”

NO LET-UP FROM THE PREMIERS

Graham Arnold’s squad secured the Premiers’ Plate last weekend but Grant said there’s be no relaxing from the squad, as they aim to take momentum into the Finals Series.

“We don’t really look at the past too much, we just concentrate on improving on the previous game,” he said.

“We did really well against Perth, so the boys are eager to improve on that and obviously get the win on the weekend.

“As a team going into the finals, you want to make sure your winning games so nothing changes when it comes to the preparation, we want to make sure were at our best and firing, so once it comes to the semi’s and the final were ready to go.”
