Sydney FC have re-signed Senegalese international Jacques Faty on a new one year deal, keeping the centre back at the club until the end of the 2015/16 Hyundai A-League season.
Faty joined the Sky Blues as an injury replacement player in January and made 10 appearances for Sydney FC, scoring a memorable opening goal against the Wellington Phoenix as he played for a total of 767 minutes.

The former Marseille defender said he was excited by the prospect of remaining a Sky Blue as he sets his sights on silverware next season.
“I am very pleased to be remaining a member of Sydney FC for next season,” Faty said.
“I have strong ambitions to win titles during my career and I believe I can achieve that with the Sky Blues.
“I believe I have unfinished business here after the Grand Final and I want to use that as motivation for next season when we compete in the Asian Champions League and hopefully set more A-League records.”

The 31-year-old was part of a strong defensive unit and it’s this bond that Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold noted as a major reason for his re-signing.
“I’m very pleased to have secured Jacques for another season,” Arnold said.
“This is a crucial signing because of his quality and his leadership, I think it was clearly seen when he went off in the Grand Final that the team lacked leadership on the field and that’s what we have now with Jacques’ experience.
“He is a great player to have in the group and in the dressing room and brings great professionalism to Sydney FC.
“Jacques has proved to be an excellent defender as well and will strengthen our defensive stocks as we venture into Asia and build on our record breaking season,” he concluded.
