He’s 19-year-old has also made three substitute appearances for Sydney in the current Hyundai A-League campaign.

“I’m really excited to sign my first senior contract with Sydney FC,” Mallia said.

“After joining the club at the start of this season, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to start my professional career at Sydney FC.”

“With the calibre of both the coaching staff and players at the club, I feel that this is the best place for my football to develop.”

“I’ve had a taste of first team football in the last month, and I’m looking forward to working hard to challenge for a regular spot in the senior team.”

Sydney FC Coach Vitezslav Lavicka was also thrilled to have the teenager, who boasts an electric turn of pace, make the step up to the senior side.

“Mitch is joining Sydney FC for the next two seasons and that is a positive for the club,: Lavicka said.

“He has a lot of pace, he has good technical skills, he has been playing well consistently in (the) Youth Team and is the right character to join Sydney FC.”
