Sky Blues defender handed one game ban by MRP

The independent Match Review Panel have delivered their verdict from incidents arising from the weekend’s Round 21 Hyundai A-League action.

The independent Match Review Panel ( MRP ) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Alan Contini – convened today to consider the following incidents from Round 21 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season:

  1. An incident involving  Jacques Faty  (Sydney FC) which arose in or around the 64 th  minute of Sydney FC’s match against Melbourne Victory on Saturday, 27 February 2016. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Jacques Faty was issued with a direct red card. The MRP confirmed that Jacques Faty will serve a suspension of one (1) match, being the minimum sanction for the offence of  denying the opposing team an obvious goal scoring opportunity .
  1. An incident involving  Kosta Barbarouses  (Melbourne Victory) which arose in or around the 22 nd  minute of Melbourne Victory’s match against Sydney on Saturday, 27 February 2016. The Player has been cited for the incident and a show cause notice has been issued (the Notice). The Player has until 12:00pm (AEDT) Tuesday 1 March 2016 to make submissions in response to the Notice. The MRP will reconvene tomorrow afternoon to consider the Citation Incident and any submissions filed by the Player.
