Perth Glory has been dealt a blow with midfielder Victor Sikora ruled out for two matches with a hamstring injury.
Sikora scored the Glory’s only goal in the loss to North Queensland last weekend, but was substituted just before half time after feeling tightness in his leg.
Scans on Tuesday revealed he had a tear in his right hamstring, which came as a massive shock to the former Dutch international.
“It is a big surprise, I thought it was feeling tight only but the scans showed there were two tears, it really was a nasty surprise,” Sikora said.
“I have felt more tightness in games before and nothing has happened but unfortunately this time something was there.”
Sikora will be sidelined for three weeks, but he should only miss two matches due to a FIFA match break in mid-November, and he has already targeted the blockbuster against Sydney on November 22 as his return date.
“It’s strange to think that I’ll miss any games at all because I’m walking fine and don’t feel much pain but I’ll get straight into the rehab and I can’t wait to get back out there,” he said.
“The positive in all of this is that I should only miss a couple of games because of the break and be back in time for the game against Sydney at home.”
Perth welcomes Melbourne to ME Bank Stadium this weekend before travelling to New Zealand to take on Wellington the following week.
