Signing news: Wanderers re-sign key duo

Western Sydney Wanderers have re-signed defender Brendan Hamill and goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson to new deals.

Hamill has been with the Wanderers for the last three years and has re-committed to the Red and Black until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season.

The 24-year-old has had spells at Melbourne Heart and K-League side Seongnam FC before going on to play a key role in the Wanderers’ AFC Champions League conquest.

Born and raised in Western Sydney, the Australian youth international has now made 53 appearances and netted two goals for the club.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here at the club so I’m really happy to have extended my stay for another two seasons,” said Hamill.

“As a Western Sydney boy, it’s pretty special to be able to play in front of my friends, family and our fans, who I think are the best in the league.”

Foundation player Tyson is also set to pull on the Red and Black for a fourth season after signing a one-year extension.

The 27-year-old joined the Wanderers in their inaugural season from Gold Coast United and enjoyed two seasons in Western Sydney before stints with Sun Pegasus in Hong Kong and Perth Glory.

Since returning to the Wanderers last season Tyson has now made 10 appearances in all competitions across his two stints at the club.

The shot-stopper is also held in high regard off the pitch for his tireless work in the community and his connection with the fans.

“It’s a really terrific feeling. It’s a club that I feel very passionate about and there was never any hesitation about signing on for another year,” Tyson said.

“A lot of clubs always talk about the fans and the players and everyone involved being a family but I think I’ve really experienced that at the Wanderers.”
