Melbourne Victory have snared ex-Brisbane Roar midfielder Jay Barnett on a one-year scholarship contract.

Barnett, an AIS graduate, made his Hyundai A-League debut with Roar in January this year and has made three appearances in the competition.

Barnett, 18, also played a key part in Brisbane Roar’s Foxtel Y-League-winning campaign.

“It’s a great honour to be joining a club of this size, and when I first heard of their interest in me, I had no hesitation in making the move,” said Barnett on Victory’s official website.

“I see an opportunity here to progress and develop my game further, and I just want to play as many games for the club as I can.”
