Signing news: striker extends deal at Perth Glory

Perth Glory FC has announced speedy winger Chris Harold has signed on with the club for a further two years.

It means the Perth born 23-year old, now in his fourth year at Glory, will stay at the club until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season.

He joins new forwards Andy Keogh and Adam Taggart who both signed with the club last month, though Taggart is only eligible to play from next season.

Harold recently notched up his 100th Hyundai A-League match and is approaching his 78th match in the Glory jersey after first joining the club in 2012/13.

“I’m very excited and I’m very much looking forward to the next couple of years in Perth. It’s become my home now. Finals are not out of the question the way we’ve been playing and I think the teams above us are worried we’re going to catch them” he said.

Since heading west Harold has scored 14 goals for Glory.

Chris Harold and Aryn Williams celebrate a goal in Glory's 6-1 win over Newcastle.

Three of them have come in the past month, including a double against Newcastle Jets and a vital equaliser against Melbourne City.

“I think I’ve been playing  well and getting into good goal scoring positions, it’s just a matter of me doing that and I’m sure the goals will follow”.

He also said the vibe in the camp was upbeat and positive on the back of five new player recruits in the transfer window and successive back to back wins.

“Looking forward everyone can see the club is taking positive steps and I think with the players we’ve brought in everyone can see a lot of quality and not for just the rest of this season but for the next couple of seasons,” he said.

Harold and his teammates travel to New Zealand today to take on Wellington Phoenix in the Long Distance Derby Cup.

Glory will host Brisbane Roar in its next home match at nib Stadium on February 20.
