Signing news: Roar sign American attacker from local NPLW

Brisbane Roar have added prolific Queensland NPLW striker Shea Connors to their squad for their last push towards the Westfield W-League Finals Series.

Connors has inked a short-term deal with Jake Goodship’s squad for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

And her addition is timely as Roar try to claim a spot in the top four heading into the final three rounds of the regular season.

They are currently three points behind fourth-place Melbourne Victory ahead of this weekend’s trip to take on Perth Glory.

“We’re stoked to have Shea on board. She’s obviously an immense talent who has shown in the NPLW QLD just how dangerous she can be in front of goal,” Goodship said.

“Hopefully she’ll play a key part in our run to another finals berth.”

Connors enjoyed an outstanding season with Logan Lightning in the NPLW, scoring 25 goals in just 15 appearances.

That amazing tally included five hat-tricks and an incredible six goals in one match.

The American attacker will add more depth to Roar’s frontline following the departure of Hayley Raso to Women’s Super League side Everton.

“I’m so excited. I’m really grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait for what’s to come,” Connors said.

“It’s like a dream come true. The [Westfield] W-League compares a lot to the NWSL which is somewhere I want to reach one day.

“To play with people I’ve looked up to will be an unreal experience and I’m ready to take the opportunity.

“I’m really grateful for Logan Lightning bringing me to Australia, giving me the chance to start my football journey here & allowing me to pursue this opportunity.”
