Signing news: Mallory Weber joins Adelaide

Adelaide United have signed former United States youth international Mallory Weber.

Weber, 25, joins the Reds on loan from National Women’s Soccer League outfit Utah Royals.

“Mallory is a dynamic forward who will offer us plenty in the offensive third of the park, but her experience in the NWSL will be invaluable to our young squad as we look to improve upon last season,” hailed Adelaide boss Ivan Karlovic.

“Obviously the season is just around the corner and we have a few more spots to fill and we’re looking forward to announcing them in the next few days as well.”

Weber began her college career with Penn State, scoring 36 goals in 100 matches between 2012 and 2015.

In 2016, she was traded to NWSL side Portland Thorns where she would spend the next three years.

During her time with the Oregon outfit, Weber won the NWSL Shield in her first season as the Thorns finished in first place at the end of the regular season, and a year later clinched the Championship.

The forward accumulated 44 appearances with Portland before moving to fellow American top-flight team, Utah in May.
