Signing news: Kellond-Knight returns to Brisbane

Brisbane Roar have announced the signing of foundation Westfield W-League midfielder Elise Kellond-Knight.

The 29-year-old Westfield Matilda returns to the Roar for her second stint, having previously won two Championships and a Premiership during her previous eight seasons at the club.

She is the third Roar foundation member to sign on for the Queenslanders, following the signatures of two-time Julie Dolan Medal winner Clare Polkinghorne and all-time leading goal scorer Tameka Yallop.

“It’s like I’ve stepped out of time and come back in,” said Kellond-Knight, who represented Melbourne City last season.

“It’s great to come home and be surrounded by everything I grew up with and live close to my family – it’ll be a great thing for me.”

Most recently, Kellond-Knight played alongside Australian internationals Amy Harrison and Chloe Logarzo at Washington Spirit during the 2019 National Women’s Soccer League campaign.

She has featured at three FIFA Women’s World Cups and boasts over 100 appearances for the national team.

“[Head Coach] Jake [Goodship] is passionate, with a great drive and he wants to be a winner, as I do too,” Kellond-Knight continued.

“I had so many successful seasons here in Brisbane and I have the drive to be part of a Championship-winning team again.”
