In a huge boost just a week from the start of the Westfield W-League 2017/18 Season, Brisbane Roar have secured Westfield Matildas star Katrina Gorry to a multi-year deal.
Gorry, affectionately known as ‘Mini’, has signed a two-year deal with Roar’s women’s team.
Gorry has scored 16 goals for Brisbane – including at least one in every Westfield W-League campaign she has played in – and ended the 2016/17 Season as Roar’s leading scorer alongside Tameka Butt.
“This is a fantastic statement with only a week to go until the start of the new season,” coach Mel Andreatta said.
“Katrina is an important member of our group and we know that she is a very attacking-minded player who is always looking for ways to create chances for her team.
“She is a fierce competitor who is always looking for the opportunity to shoot, be positive, and has shown time and time again that she is capable of finding the net from any distance.”
Gorry has made 59 appearances for the Roar and was a member of the 2012/13 Season premiership squad.
The 2014 AFC Women’s Player of the Year will run out for a sixth straight campaign for the club.
Roar open their campaign next Friday night against Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium before their first home match the first of five Westfield W-League/Hyundai A-League double headers at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, 5 November against Perth Glory.
