Signing news: Former ball boy promoted on Wanderers scholarship contract

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce the promotion of Daniel Wilmering from the Wanderers Academy on a two-year scholarship contract.

The incredible rise of Daniel Wilmering has continued, with the young defender signing a two-year Hyundai A-League scholarship contract with Western Sydney Wanderers.

Wilmering has famously graduated from being a ball boy at the Wanderers’ first-ever Hyundai A-League match to making his senior debut against Wellington Phoenix in Round 22 of the recent 2018/19 Season.

“The first people I told were my parents because of all the sacrifices and dedication they had put into my career so far and it was very emotional. It was very rewarding for them to see how far I had come,” said Wilmering on the Wanderers’ official website.

“We’ve been fans since the club had started, so every game we went to I enjoyed the passion of the fans and I know what this club means to the fans and the community of Western Sydney.

“At the moment, I’m just trying to learn as much as I can from the senior players, Markus (head coach Markus Babbel), JP (assistant coach Jean-Paul de Marigny) and Labinot (assistant coach Labinot Haliti).”
