In great news for the Newcastle Jets heading into the Hyundai A-League Finals Series, skipper Nigel Boogaard has signed a contract extension with the club.
Boogaard inked a one-year deal, meaning he’ll lead the Hunter club into the 2018/19 Finals Series.
“It’s good news to be sticking around,” Boogaard said on Thursday.
“The club is doing quite well at the moment and I’m looking forward to the direction of the club into the future.
“It’s a great bunch of boys, a great changeroom and a great coach as well so it’s an exciting time to be a part of the club and I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years.”

Boogaard , 31, is currently racing the clock to try and prove his fitness for next weekend’s home semi-final at McDonald Jones Stadium.
He suffered a leg injury last month which was expected to rule him out for the rest of the campaign but he’s doing everything he can to try and get back for the clash on Friday, April 27.
The Jets are just one win away from progressing to their first Hyundai A-League decider since 2008.
