Wellington Phoenix defender Ben Sigmund faces a one match ban after the Hyundai A-League independent Match Review Panel (MRP) found the All White denied Archie Thompson a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Sigmund was shown a straight red card by referee Peter Green when he fouled the Victory striker in the penalty box in the 65th minute of the match on Sunday afternoon.

The MRP, consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Alan Contini, upheld Green-s decision, leaving Sigmund and Phoenix with the decision to either accept the sanction or refer the matter to the FFA Disciplinary Committee by midday Tuesday.
