Western Sydney Wanderers will look to capitalise on its Sydney Derby victory by building momentum in Matchweek 20 against Western United on Saturday, May 8.
The Wanderers host United at Bankwest Stadium in the second game of Matchday Saturday, with the first taking place between Newcastle Jets and Sydney FC at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Carl Robinson’s Wanderers beat the Sky Blues 3-2 in their last outing, ending a six-game winless run. The flat run of results raised questions of Western Sydney’s ability to reach the 2020/21 A-League Finals Series, but a derby win in front of a bumper home crowd has the potential to reinvigorate the Wanderers’ push for a place in the top six.
Dylan McGowan and Nicolai Müller return to the Wanderers squad for the United clash, while Victor Sánchez returns from suspension for Mark Rudan’s United side. The Green and Black are preparing for a third-consecutive away fixture, and can pull three points clear of the Wanderers with a win as the two sides venture into Matchweek 20 level on 28 points apiece.

Newcastle Jets welcome Sydney FC to McDonald Jones Stadium in the earlier Saturday fixture, with the Sky Blues looking to bounce back after a loss which ended a six-game unbeaten streak.
Steve Corica’s team are without Luke Brattan for the clash with the Jets, while Newcastle livewire Ramy Najjarine returns from an ankle injury for the home side.
Newcastle are bottom of the A-League table without a win in 11 games, but could jump Melbourne Victory into 11th spot with a home win over the Sky Blues. The two sides last met in Matchweek 12 when Sydney FC won 2-1 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
