St Albans has prevailed in a penalty shootout against Northcote City to reach the Dockerty Cup semis and become the third FFV club to qualify for the Westfield FFA Cup.
St Albans Saints booked its place in the Dockerty Cup semi finals and the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 with a 6-5 penalty shootout win over Northcote City on Wednesday night.
Ajak Panek was the hero for the NPL 1 side, scoring the winning penalty after the game was locked 1-1 after 120 minutes.
Earlier, the Saints had taken the lead in the second half through Sean McIlroy, before James Kalifatidis levelled for Northcote at Olympic Village.
Northcote had the best chance to win the match in an extra-time period which produced no goals, leaving the result to come down to a dramatic penalty shootout. With the scores tied at 5-5 on penalties, Northcote blinked first when Philip Petreski blasted his spot kick over the top.
It came down to Panek to put the NPL 1 into the semi finals and he duly delivered, sending the Saints bench and fans into raptures.
