Mat Ryan’s trial with Rangers has been indefinitely postponed, after the Mariners keeper injured his shoulder in the game against Western Sydney.
The Mariners said in a statement that the injury is minor, but both clubs have agreed that it is in Ryan-s best interests to remain in Australia under the care of the Mariners- medical department for the foreseeable future.
The trial has stirred a great deal of emotion, with many questioning Ryan’s decision to join a club in the lower reaches Scottish football, regardless of Rangers’ size, history or ambitions to regain their status.
The club said their sought-after keeper should be available for selection for Saturday-s Hyundai A-League round 16 fixture against Melbourne Victory in Launceston.
