Roux will go down a Storm against Italian champs

Josh Rose says teammate and fellow Foxtel A-League All Star Storm Roux has the potential to light up ANZ Stadium when Juventus hit town next month.

The Mariners pair have been selected in the Foxtel A-League All Star squad to face Juventus on August 10 in Sydney.

Alongside the likes of Hyundai A-League player of the year Thomas Broich from the champions Brisbane, superstar striker Besart Berisha from Victory and captain Alessandro Del Piero, it's set to be a fabulous occasion.

And Rose can’t wait to see Roux – a player he describes as "special" – on the big stage against the Italian champions.

As a left back, Rose was part of last year’s local side that faced Manchester United at a sell-out ANZ, so he knows all about this type of glamour match.

And he believes the 21-year-old All White right back can rise to the occasion when Josep Gombau’s men face Tevez, Pirlo and Co.

“He was fantastic last season, right from the first session you could see he was quite special,” Rose told www.a-leagueallstars.com.au

“He’s an entertaining player, he’s up and down the park and creates and sets up goal which is what you want.

“He’s also a good kid with a good attitude and he’s definitely got a big future in the game if he keeps continuing the way he is.”

After a stunning first season with the Mariners, the South African born New Zealand international looms as one of the most exciting talents ahead of the new season 10 of the Hyundai A-League.

And after extending his contract recently, Roux is just the sort of player Phil Moss needs as the club looks to continue its rebuild back to Championship winning ways.

Rose, now 32, has experienced club football locally and overseas and as had this advice for the All Whites rising star.

“It’s always hard to knock back the opportunity to go overseas at a young age, but it’s got to be somewhere where he gets game time and keeps developing.

“It’s important game time, it’s the best experience you can have.

“I wouldn’t rush into it if I was him. I’d continue playing for the Mariners and enjoy that and whatever comes of that and if it’s the right one, then for sure, grab it.”

Champions of Italy, Juventus, take on the Foxtel A-League All Stars led by the Italian champion Alessandro Del Piero at ANZ Stadium, Sydney on Sunday 10 August.
