Round 8 preview: Adelaide United v Canberra United

The battle for top-four ascendancy continues into Round 8, as Adelaide United prepare to host Canberra United in a showdown at Marden Sports Complex on Sunday evening.

Canberra are licking their wounds after a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Sydney FC in Round 7. The result allowed Brisbane Roar to leapfrog the Green Machine into second on the Westfield W-League table.

Canberra (11 points), now sit just one point above Adelaide United who head into the Round 8 fixture in fifth. Three points separate the Reds and Brisbane Roar in second place, who have a game in hand on all three teams below them vying for positions in the top four.

An inaugural Finals Series appearance is in sight for Adelaide this season, but Canberra will be showing no mercy in their attempts to quickly bounce back from their first loss of the 2020/21 Westfield W-League campaign at the hands of the merciless Sky Blues.
