Further south, the action continued unabated – with Redlands United becoming the fourth team to sit in top spot so far this season.
Round 7 commenced with Olympic FC and Brisbane Roar NYL sharing the points in a tight 2-all draw at Goodwin Park on Friday night.
The young Roar outfit started strong with Brandon Borrello nabbing a goal against the run of play after 25 minutes.
Olympic saw a number of chances, however the young Roar team kept them at bay to go into half time a goal ahead.
The second half continued on much the same with the home side breaking through six minutes after the restart off the boot of Terry Hughes to level scores.
Olympic edged ahead in the 83rd minute with Hughes becoming provider for Reuban Way to net his sixth goal of the season.
However, the defending champions failed to close the game out as Roar Youth grabbed a share of the points four minutes later as Borello secured his brace.
The point moves Roar up to tenth on the table.
Across town, Brisbane City secured a convincing 3-1 home win over Western Pride at Spencer Park to send them up to third on the ladder.
City came flying out of the blocks, Nick Buckley scoring a counter attacking goal within two minutes.
Last year-s grand-finalists were two goals up before giving away a penalty shortly after the restart, allowing Peter Drager to make it 2-1.
Pride were looking to share the spoils when City defender Luca Perico received his second caution with less five minutes to go.
Pride created a number of chances until City substitute Jarrod Kyle snatched the winner at the death.
Pride are still yet to attain a three-pointer, with only goal difference saving them from last place.
On Sunday Redlands United grabbed the top spot with a 2-1 win away to Sunshine Coast Fire at Stockland Stadium.

Redlands doubled their lead in the 57th minute when Scott Bow-s scored from the edge of the box.
Redlands were looking to close out the remainder of the match until Brock Messenger-s strike set up an exciting final ten minutes.
Unfortunately the Fire couldn-t snatch a point and last year-s semi-finalists now find themselves back in seventh on the table.
In the final game of the weekend, Brisbane Strikers have thumped SWQFC 8-0 at Clive Berghofer Stadium in Toowoomba on Sunday.
The Strikers made the trip across the Range without an away win this season to take on the winless Thunder.
Matt Thurtell was in fine form managing to get on the score sheet four times, while Scott Coulson secured a hat-trick.
The Strikers’ Jackson Hall also contributed to the total to raise the Thunder-s goal difference to an unflattering minus 37.
The result sees Strikers leap to second spot while Thunder is glued to the foot of the standings.
