Round 3 Fantasy Review: Player prices rise and fall as Perth forwards shine in TOTW

It’s the new addition to the weekly fantasy agenda set to alter how you approach transfers and managing your squad: price fluctuation.

At the conclusion of Round 3, player prices which had previously remained stagnant began to rise and fall; players must have featured in at least three games in order for their value to increase or decrease, and that process is now in full swing at the conclusion of the weekend’s action.

This is the point in the season in which each fantasy manager’s base squad value of $4,000,000 will begin to vary.

Newcastle Jets’ Murphy Agnew’s value has skyrocketed after a red-hot start to the season which has seen her collect 52 points – the most of any player league-wide. Agnew’s starting price of $155K is no more; the Jets midfielder will head into Round 4 with price tag of $289K.

On the other end of the spectrum is Sydney FC’s Mackenzie Hawkesby. The Sky Blues star began the season with an eye-watering price tag; her value has decreased by $88K. Sydney FC and Matildas winger Cortnee Vine is second on the list, having seen her value drop $66K having failed to score or assist through the opening three rounds.

It’s important to note that players from Western Sydney Wanderers, Melbourne City and Canberra United are yet to see their value fluctuate. The three teams have all had a bye through the opening three rounds; take a look through the over performing and underperforming players at all three clubs and consider how an expected rise or fall in each player’s value could impact your own fantasy team.

Baisden brace fires Glory star to top of TOTW

Rylee Baisden’s fantastic brace for Perth Glory in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle Jets not only rescued her side a point on the road – but fired the American striker to the top of the fantasy charts in Round 3.

Baisden accumulated 22 points in her best afield display against the Jets, and is joined by teammates Cyera Hintzen (15 points) and Isabella Wallhead (14 points) in the team of the week.

Sydney FC dominated the defensive unit, with goalkeeper Jada Whyman (13 points) and defenders Charlotte Mclean (12 points) and Charlize Rule (12 points) making the cut in a 5-2-3 formation.

And after trailing Adelaide United heading into second-half stoppage time on Sunday afternoon, Western United pair Sydney Cummings and Emma Robers both make the Team of the Week having both scored in Western’s stunning stoppage time turnaround, with Cummings drawing the green and black level before Robers snatched all three points with a long-range worldie.
