Round 12 preview: Perth Glory v Canberra United

Canberra United will seek to keep their momentum rolling and break into the Westfield W-League’s top four when they travel to face rock bottom Perth Glory at Dorrien Gardens on Friday.

The Green Machine fired up their push for finals football with an emphatic 4-1 win over second-place Brisbane Roar last week, with Michelle Heyman equalling Sam Kerr’s all-time competition scoring record of 70 goals.

The experienced striker will aim to go one better in Western Australia and take an outright lead in the charts as first-year coach Vicki Linton’s fifth-placed side look to leapfrog fourth-placed Melbourne Victory and edge closer to their first post-season trip in four campaigns.

Glory’s 4-0 loss to the Newcastle Jets on Monday was the basement dweller’s fourth straight defeat and Alexander Epakis’ youthful squad are playing for pride and big-match experience as they search to end 2020/21 with a silver lining to take into next season.
