Rose’s emotional farewell to Mariners fans

Retiring Central Coast Mariners defender Josh Rose admits he feels bad the fans had to witness his side’s F3 Derby trouncing at the hands of Newcastle Jets.

In Rose’s last match before retirement, the Mariners lost 8-2 in front of their home fans in Gosford on Saturday night.

The veteran left-back was substituted to a rousing reception 19 minutes from the end and received a special tribute from the club and supporters after full-time.

And in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, the 36-year-old offered his thanks to everyone who helped him during his career.

“Disappointed with the result and sad that the supporters of this great club had to sit through that,” Rose wrote.

“As for me, I want to personally thank everyone who has been a part of my career, supported me, played with and against me.

“Without the support of close friends, family, team mates, coaching staff and office staff from the clubs I’ve been involved with, none of this would of been possible.”
