The Brisbane Roar board have suspended coach Frank Farina indefinitely after he was charged with drink driving yesterday morning.

The Roar coach will not take part in this afternoon-s match against Gold Coast United, with assistant coach Rado Vidosic instead taking the reigns.

With board members unable to convene on the matter until earlier this afternoon, Chairman Chris Bombolas said the club would investigate the issue over the coming days.

“We-d like to talk personally with Frank in front of the whole board to discuss the matter and discuss the direction of the club,” Bombolas said.

Both Bombolas and club chief executive Peter McLennan stressed the matter was very serious and the board would carefully consider the facts of the case before deciding on the appropriate action.

“This is a proud club,” McLennan said. “We want success on and off the park and that-s what we-re aiming to achieve moving forward.”

Bombolas said he hoped the fans would continue to show their support for the team, despite the issue.

“We say to the fans ‘stick by us-. We want the focus and the attention turned back to what-s happening on the pitch, rather than matters that have happened off the pitch.”
