As Brisbane Roar prepare to host Melbourne Victory in an Elimination Final star striker Jamie Maclaren is confident home ground advantage will make all the difference on Friday night.
Maclaren has dominated opposition defences this year – netting 18 goals so far with many of them at Brisbane’s home-ground fortress.
Ten of the 22-year-old’s goals this season have been at Suncorp Stadium and even though this is his first season at the club, Maclaren says it’s quickly felt like home.
“I feel very familiar with the pitch,” Maclaren said on Wednesday.
“It is a bigger pitch than most A-League venues which suits my game and my movement in behind the defence. I think that makes it a little easier for my team-mates to find me making runs.”
Maclaren praised the Roar fans who have taken him to heart and have helped him celebrate his success at the ground this season.
“Suncorp is a stadium where the fans are very close and the atmosphere is really good,” Maclaren said.
“When the Den start making their noise, you can really feel it out there on the pitch.
“And it is a great feeling when you score and are able to run right up to them and celebrate together.
“It’s been a great season and I’ve got more goals to deliver yet.
“I am just hoping for a really big crowd on Friday night to help us celebrate beating Victory.”
