Brisbane Roar maintained a share of top spot and put space on Canberra United with a 1-0 win at McKellar Park on Sunday.
Tameka Butt scored the only goal with just over 20 minutes remaining to give her side a fourth win in five Westfield W-League matches.
Haley Kopmeyer had kept Canberra in the contest with a series of fine saves against her former side, but the goalkeeper’s efforts proved in vain with Butt’s winner moving Roar level on 12 points with leaders Perth Glory.
And they have the opportunity to open up a lead at the top next weekend as Sam Kerr’s Glory have the bye.
Canberra, meanwhile, drop back to third following a second defeat in five fixtures.
