Brisbane Roar coach Warren Moon is vowing to make changes to his team after an underwhelming start to their A-League Men season.
The Roar slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Melbourne Victory last weekend to be the only team without a point in the competition after two matches.
Saturday’s visit by Adelaide United is the Roar’s first home match of the season and Moon says he’ll be entering the game with a different lineup than that which featured against Victory.
“There’ll be changes, look we’ve lost two in a row, so they’ll definitely be changes,” Moon said.
“We’ve got to obviously play the players that are available as well.”
Moon’s options have been hampered with captain Tom Aldred still sidelined from a knee injury picked up in a pre-season match against the Reds.
Argentinian forward Juan Lescano came off the bench to make his A-League Men debut against Victory in the second-half but Moon said the 29-year-old is not yet ready to start.
“We know he’s a good player and we can’t wait to use them. It’s just we’re not quite there yet,” he said.
Lescano’s recovery from a hamstring strain has forced Moon to start Cyrus Dehmie up front in the past two matches with the 19-year-old struggling to make much impact.
His position in the starting XI looks the most precarious with ex-Sydney FC forward Luke Ivanovic fully fit heading into the Adelaide clash.
“Luke (Ivanovic) wasn’t available to start, but he’s eligible for selection from the start now,” Moon said.
“We’ll look at everything and make sure we pick a side that can win tomorrow.”
Adelaide head to Moreton Daily Stadium with fond memories of last season’s elimination final victory at the venue.
Carl Veart’s team has also been boosted by a late comeback against Melbourne City where two goals in the final 12 minutes secured a 2-2 draw against the champions last weekend.
