Brisbane Roar have agreed a fee to sell midfielder Erik Paartalu to Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Teda.
Subject to the successful completion of a medical in China next week, Paartalu will transfer to Tianjin immediately, calling time on two championship-winning season with the Roar.
Paartalu signed from Scottish side Greenock Morton prior to the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season, penning a three-year deal which was set to expire at the conclusion of the current campaign.
The defensive midfielder played an important role in Brisbane’s back-to-back Championships, including his in extra time against the Central Coast Mariners, which sent the 2011 Grand Final to penalties.
Roar boss Mike Mulvey said he wished Paartalu the best but appeared happy to move on quickly from what has been a rather messy separation for club and player.
“The history books will always mark Erik’s on field contribution in helping secure Brisbane’s first two Championship trophies,” Mulvey said.
“He has been very professional in my time at the club and shown a commitment in helping the club turn things around.
“He is moving on and we now need to concentrate on the players who remain at the club. We wish Erik all the best for his future.”
