Sky Blue star Rhyan Grant has declared he’s good to go for Saturday’s clash against Western United at Leichhardt Oval (kick off 5pm AEST).
Sydney FC are set to be given a huge boost ahead of their clash against Western United FC on Saturday with Rhyan Grant set to return from injury.
The Socceroos defender has missed the last four games for the Sky Blues through injury but declared he’s “good to go” for the clash at Leichhardt Oval.
And he’s certainly been missed, with Steve Corica’s side winless in the time Grant has been sidelined.
His likely comeback is great timing, with the Sky Blues to be presented the Premiers’ Plate after full-time on Saturday night.
But the Sky Blues won’t take any risks with the 29-year-old, with Grant needing to get a final clearance from the coaching staff before lining up against the Hyundai A-League newcomers.
“The injury is coming along well,” Grant said on Sydney FC’s official website.
“I got the clearance over the weekend to be good to go again this week so if all goes well I should be back in the squad come Saturday.

“It’s up to the coaching staff now on whether I play or not, I got the clearance, I’m good to go with the squad 100% so it’s just up to the coaching staff on whether they want to select me.
“I’ve been sticking to my program quite strictly to make sure everything is right for me to return.
“Ibby [Ibrahim Kerem] our Phyiso is spot on with his rehab program and thankfully I’ve pulled up quite well so hopefully I’m right for Saturday and everything feels good.
“It’s been hard watching the boys from the sidelines. Footballers don’t like missing matches, especially when they’re injured and can’t take part in any games.
“With the results it hasn’t been nice sitting back and watching that, but the boys did well against the Roar and that puts us in good stead for Saturday and hopefully I’m a part of that and back in amongst it.”
Saturday’s match will see Grant come face-to-face with a couple of close mates and former Sky Blues.
Both Aaron Calver and Max Burgess have been key components of United’s charge to the top six and Grant admits he’s relishing the encounter against his mates.
“Western have been really good, some entertaining games since they’ve been back,” Grant said.
“With Azza [Aaron Calver] and Burjo [Max Burgess] being there I tend to watch them more than other clubs and they’ve been doing really well, so it’s going to be an entertaining game.
“Knowing Burjo and playing and training with him I know what he’s about, but in the last few years he’s come on leaps and bounds.
“He’s been the standout player in the last month in the league so I’m going to have my hands full but it’ll be nice to come up against him and test myself against the form player in the league at the moment.
“Both teams like to play good counter attacking football and sore as many goals as possible so it’ll be interesting to see how we play when we come up against them. It’s going to be tough and we’ll have to be on our A-game.”
