Returning Brisbane Roar match-winner Brett Holman believes Thursday night’s thrilling victory over Perth Glory is the type of result which can turn the club’s Hyundai A-League season around.
In his first match since Round 8, Holman came off the bench to score the winner 17 minutes from time to help Roar prevail 3-2.

Not only did the result snap a three-game losing streak but it’s breathed new life into Roar’s flailing campaign, moving them up to seventh spot.
“We needed it. There was no other result,” Holman told Fox Sports.
“Thankfully I can play a part. I’m happy to just get through it more than anything. But it’s a really big three points for us.
“We’ve been unlucky [in games this season] sometimes but on the other hand we haven’t deserved a lot either. Today we showed what we can do,” the ex-Caltex Socceroos playmaker added.
“And even that fighting until the end, that’s what Brisbane is known for; I think that’s what we showed.”
In an entertaining clash at Suncorp Stadium, Roar took a fourth-minute lead only to be pegged back soon after through Chris Harold’s assured finish.
It was the same story after the break as Ivan Franjic’s clinical header was again cancelled out be a Harold goal, before Holman had the final say.
“It feels good to win … there’s been so many games we should have either won or at least got something out of it, and we didn’t,” Roar boss John Aloisi said post-match.
“To stay in the race, we needed to win tonight and that was the most important thing.”
Roar turn their focus to the AFC Champions League next, with a qualifier against Ceros-Negros from the Philippines on Tuesday night.
