Midfielder Paul Reid is on the lookout for a new club after Adelaide United decided not to offer him a new contract for next season.

Reid, who attempted to walk out on the club before the finals to join Sydney FC, wasn’t offered another deal for next season after originally rejecting the club’s first offer.

The 31-year-old play 70 games for the Reds since joining the club from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2008 and played a major role in the club’s third place finish this season.

The decision to show Reid the door comes after the club completed the first phase of an extensive season review on Tuesday.

It’s understood Reid’s departure will be the first of a major shake-up at the Reds, with skipper Travis Dodd reportedly close to signing a deal with Perth Glory.

After a promising start to the season, Adelaide stumbled over the last couple of months of the campaign to finish third, before being knocked out of the finals with a 3-2 loss to the Gold Coast on Sunday.
