Reghecampf: “We were better side”

Al-Hilal coach Laurentiu Reghecampf was defiant in the post-match press conference after his team were beaten by Western Sydney Wanderers FC in the ACL final in Riyadh on Sunday morning.

The Wanderers rode their luck and survived an onslaught from the home side to hang on for a 0-0 draw to win the tie 1-0 on aggregate.

There were ugly scenes at the end of the game with Al-Hilal’s Nasser Al Shamrani clearly spitting on a Wanderers player before a push-and-shove ensured.

It showed what it meant to lose to the Australians, who were described as a “small” club by Reghecampf in the lead up to the game.

Adn the Romanian coach wasn’t about to give the Hyundai A-League club much credit after a game he’d promised his side would win.

“Bad luck, we had many chances, we were the better team,” he told reporters after the game.

‘I think our team did a great job, I am very proud to be coach of Al-Hilal, we need to work from here.”
