Adelaide United forward Henrique is confident the Reds can build on their morale boosting 2-0 win over the Phoenix last Sunday as the club aim to replicate last season’s surge up the ladder.
The Brazilian’s stunning first-half brace ended United’s eight-game winless streak in what was a dominant team display from the hosts at Coopers Stadium.
Henrique revealed he was delighted to etch his name on the scoresheet, but maintained the most important aspect from the clash was that the Reds secured the three points.
“I’m really happy for the goals I scored, but also for the win, that’s the most important thing,” Henrique said.
“I’ll try to replicate this performance, but I don’t mind if my other teammates score the goals as long as we win.”
The 31-year-old is also adamant the team can consolidate their impressive triumph when United meet Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
“It’s great that we got our first win last weekend and it’s good that we can create momentum now,” Henrique said.
“And we hope this form continues moving forward against Brisbane.”
Reds Head Coach, Guillermo Amor, will return to the technical area after serving a two-game suspension, and Henrique believes that will be an added boost for the squad come matchday.
“When you have your coach on the bench he can see things, he can talk to us and it will definitely make a big difference,” Henrique said.
Henrique, who faces his former club for the first time since leaving the Roar at the end of last season, admitted it would be a “weird experience”.
“Well I have to admit it would be a weird experience, because I played there (at Brisbane) for a long time,” Henrique continued.
“And I don’t know what will happen, but the game is not Henrique versus Brisbane, it’s Adelaide versus Brisbane.
“So I play for Adelaide now and I’m happy here and will try and do my job for the team.”
Adelaide United will face Brisbane Roar in Round 10 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season on Sunday, 11 December at Suncorp Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.30pm ACDT.
