Spanish midfielder Isaias has urged Adelaide United to maintain their momentum for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League season after jumping off the bottom of the ladder with Saturday’s win over the Mariners.
Dylan McGowan’s header sandwiched between Baba Diawara’s brace saw the Reds emerge 3-2 winners in Gosford to leapfrog Central Coast off the foot of the table and boost their hopes of avoiding the wooden spoon.
“It’s fantastic, it’s a good feeling,” Isaías said.
“It’s nothing extraordinary, but for us at the moment I think it’s a good thing.”
MOMENTUM BUILDING FOR REDS
Gui Amor’s side is currently on a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions, and have scored eight goals in their past three fixtures.
While the Finals Series is beyond their reach, Isaías said building form and confidence is crucial for the remainder of the AFC Champions League group stage.
“The good thing is we’re building momentum to arrive in the best possible form for our next Champions League game.
“This is why we’re playing to win and also finish in the best possible position on the ladder.”
ISAIAS’ INFLUENTIAL RETURN
The Spaniard returned to the field after missing the club’s last six matches due to a knee injury.
It was Isaias’ 100th appearance in the Hyundai A-League and the 30-year-old admitted he was a little nervous before kick-off but said the apprehension disappeared once the opening whistle blew.
“I felt alright,” he said.
“I was a little bit scared at first with the tackles, not to get injured again. But I felt very good so I’m happy.”
“We need the support from our fans to build momentum for our next Champions League game,” he added.
“We need them to come to Coopers Stadium to support us.”
