Adelaide United have rewarded Jordan Elsey for a superb 2017/18 Season, re-signing the young defender to a new three-year deal, the club announced on Wednesday.
In a huge show of faith in the 24-year-old centre-back, the Reds have locked Elsey away until at least the end of the Hyundai A-League 2020/21 campaign.
Elsey was a revelation during the 2017/18 Season, featuring in all 33 matches across both the Hyundai A-League and FFA Cup.
The South Australian was also handed the captain’s armband twice this campaign – first against the Wellington Phoenix in Round 18 and then against the Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 27.
“I’m very happy,” Elsey said.
“The club showed faith in me throughout all my injuries and now I want to repay that faith by playing well for them and being successful together.
“To grow up idolising Adelaide United and now to play for them in front of my friends and family week in week out, it’s something special.

“Me being a younger player, growing into a more experienced player now, I obviously have to step up and become more dominating on the pitch.
“I want to do that and I’m still learning but I’m just excited.
“I’m already missing playing football, so I’m looking forward to getting back with the boys and working hard for success.
“I feel like the Club is going in the right direction and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Elsey also brought up his 50th Hyundai A-League appearance for the Reds in Round 23 of this season and he has scored twice for the club.
After an early-season injury to Taylor Regan, Elsey became a constant in the heart of Adelaide’s defence alongside Ersan Gulum.
“I am very happy that we have been able to sign Jordan to a new contract to stay here with us for the next three seasons,” Reds boss Marco Kurz said.
“Jordan impressed us during pre-season and we knew he would be a strong part of our squad.
“The season he had last season was very good and he continued to perform at a high level each week and has earned this reward for his hard work and determination.
“He is an important part of the team on the pitch, but also in the dressing room, and to know he will be with us for the next three seasons is a very good thing for everyone at Adelaide United.”
