Pablo Sánchez says Adelaide United will go into Saturday night’s clash against Sydney FC full of confidence as they look to knock their opposition out of the finals race and continue their push for a top two finish.
The Reds are in the midst of a four-way race for top spot on the Hyundai A-League table following last weekend’s 4-2 win over the Mariners at Coopers Stadium.
Meanwhile the Sky Blues must win their remaining two matches at Allianz Stadium and hope Victory fail to pick up a point in the next two rounds in order to be a chance of scraping into the top six.
Pablo Sánchez told reporters on Wednesday Adelaide’s game-by-game philosophy has not altered, with the team solely focused on beating Graham Arnold’s side in the pen-ultimate round of the season.
“We are very positive about our next game against Sydney FC,” Pablo Sánchez said. “We are in a good position on the table, which gives us more confidence.
“We have been training hard to prepare for the game and we are ready to go to Sydney and get the three points.
“Our main focus is on the game this weekend, and if we get the points, we will think about the Finals after as we need to perform well every single game.
“We as a team are in good condition and we always work hard as a team together.
“You can see from the results, our hard work has paid off so far and we want that to continue.”
Pablo Sánchez is currently the Reds’ leading scorer this season with seven goals in a campaign that has seen the list of Adelaide scorers hit double digits.
However after recovering from a slight hamstring issue that saw him miss two matches, the Spaniard believes he can now push on and score more goals to help his teammates in the next few matches.
“I will continue to train hard and keep my mind set on scoring goals,” he continued.
“I have been very happy with my performances and with my seven goals so far.
“My goal is to keep scoring and help my team, as every goal will help us for the remainder of the season and as Finals approach this is important.”
Adelaide United will face Sydney FC in Round 26 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season on Saturday, 2 April at Allianz Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.00pm ACDT.
