Reds to face Man City in Oz friendly

Adelaide United are set to play Manchester City in a behind-closed-doors friendly in July the club confirmed, though the location of the match is yet to be revealed.

United chairman Greg Griffin initially announced the clash at the Reds’ annual awards evening last Friday night.

The Adelaide Advertiser reported the match is to be played on July 15 at Gold Coast Stadium, though the club insists the details of the clash are still to be finalised.

The English Premier League giants are in Australia in July for the International Champions Cup, along with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid and Italian club AS Roma.

For the Reds, the clash is set to act as a warm-up for their friendly against Liverpool on July 20 at Adelaide Oval, with City to open their ICC campaign against AS Roma a day later.

Adelaide will host Spanish side Villareal in an LFP World Tour match this Friday night at Coopers Stadium to kick off a busy off-season of international tours in Australia.Â
