A late strike from Jordan O’Doherty has helped Adelaide United to a 2-1 Hyundai A-League pre-season friendly win over Melbourne City on Tuesday afternoon.

STORY OF THE GAME
►The match was played in three, 40 minute periods, with all goals coming after the hour-mark.
►Stefan Mauk gave City the lead before goals from George Blackwood and a last-minute O’Doherty strike handed the Reds the win in Bundoora.
►Both sides showed some encouraging signs in a match played in howling winds and driving rain throughout.

City 1-0: Mauk
A slip in the United defence opened the door for Mauk to be one-on-one with Izzo and he finished clinically past the Reds keeper.
Reds 1-1: Blackwood
The dangerous Karim Matmour was taken down in the penalty area and substitute Blackwood sent Bouzanis the wrong way.
Reds 2-1: O’Doherty
O’Doherty stood over a free-kick just outside the area, sending his effort into the top corner on the keeper’s side.
