New Adelaide United recruit Johan Absalonsen has begun training with the Reds and immediately declared he wants to be a role model at the club.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE
At 31, Absalonsen has loads of experience from 14 years playing in the Danish Superliga.
And the left-footed winger now hopes to use all that knowledge and expertise to inspire the Reds next generation and is embracing the responsibility that comes with being a senior player.
“I’m looking forward to it (being a role model), it’s a part of being one of the experienced guys,” he said.
“Being a guy who played many games at the top level I want to also give something to the younger players.
“And I’ll try to do that as best as I can, but for now I just need to settle in and get to know everybody and of course learn their names.
“After that I can begin to hopefully be some kind of inspiration for the young players and try to be a good role model.”
KNOWLEDGE OF THE A-LEAGUE
Absalonsen made of 350 top-flight appearances in Denmark, scoring 59 goals and having 43 assists.
And he hopes his style could be a hit in the Hyundai A-League.
“I think it’s a league where you go forward,” Absalonsen said.
“You try to play and you’re not that afraid of losing the ball and you want to get forward, that’s my impression of the A-League without seeing that many games.
“I think the pace and eagerness is very high down here in the A-League as I see it.”
Absalonsen could make his Reds debut in their Westfield FFA Cup clash at home against Newcastle Jets on Wednesday, August 9 ay Marden Sports Complex.
