Adelaide United have no room for error in tomorrow evening’s Elimination Final against Melbourne Victory according to midfielder Isaías.
The Reds couldn’t have picked a worse time to take on their bitter rivals with the ultra-experienced Victory, who will be playing in Kevin Muscat’s eighth Finals fixture as coach, heading into the clash on the back of a five-match winning streak at AAMI Park.
With Victory flexing their muscles in timely fashion and boasting an intimidating attacking quartet of Besart Berisha, Leroy George, Kosta Barbarouses and James Troisi, Isaías says Adelaide will need to muster their most disciplined defensive showing of the campaign.
But the Spaniard says the visitors are more than capable of producing what would be a history-defying performance.
“They (Victory) are really aggressive, they are a risk team,” he said.
“They play very high – we shouldn’t have too many mistakes.
“Our defensive line is working really well, everyone is playing and helping the team very hard and I think we have confidence in our quality.”
Adelaide have never won a Finals encounter outside the city of churches before and have won just two of their last fifteen fixtures against the Victory, but Isaías isn’t concerned by the club’s recent history.
“We’re not thinking about that,” he said.
“I think every game is different, every season is different and anything can happen in 90 minutes.
“We must go there with confidence that we can beat anyone.”
Don’t miss a moment of the action tomorrow night in the match centre.
