Reddy blow for Roar

Brisbane has been dealt a massive blow with goalkeeper Liam Reddy ruled out for up to six weeks with a leg injury.

Reddy injured his thigh in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Gold Coast, but played out the remainder of the match, despite leaving goal-kicking duties to his defenders.

“He strained it in about the 50th minute and just played the game out, but now we have to mop it up and get it to heal,” Roar director of athletic performance Tony Ganter said.

“He’s a minimum of two weeks, but he may be out until after the FIFA break in November.”

“Unfortunately, because it’s the kicking muscle on the kicking leg, it’s going to take a little bit longer.”

The Roar won’t be taking any risks with their No.1 shotstopper.

“It’s one of those injuries that, if he tries to come back too early and it tears again, he’ll go for eight weeks,” Ganter added.

In positive news for the club, midfielder Michael Zullo could return to the pitch this weekend following a series of injuries.

The winger will most likely make his return via the National Youth League, while Andrew Packer, who played in the youth team last weekend, will get another run as he works his way back from an adductor strain.
