QUEENSLAND Roar Assistant Coach Rado Vidosic was today unveiled as the club’s inaugural National Youth Team Coach, set to lead Roar youngsters through to at least 2010 after signing a two-year deal this week.
QUEENSLAND Roar Assistant Coach Rado Vidosic was today unveiled as the club-s inaugural National Youth Team Coach, set to lead Roar youngsters through to at least 2010 after signing a two-year deal this week.
Vidosic, who has been both Frank Farina-s and former Roar coach Miron Bleiberg-s, right-hand man since the competition-s inception in 2005, will come on board with the club full-time as of May 1st with plans already afoot to recruit Queensland-s best young talent.
As Head of Cavendish Road School of Excellence-s highly regarded football program and having coached youngsters including current Roar talents Michael Zullo, Robbie Kruse, Tahj Minniecon and Chris Grossman at state level, Vidosic has an eye for local, young talent.
Not forgetting his own son who he has seen come through the ranks, former Roar prodigy Dario Vidosic, currently playing in the German Bundesliga, Queensland Roar CEO Lawrence Oudendyk today said he was pleased with the appointment.
“Rado has been appointed as the full-time Queensland Roar National Youth Team coach and he will maintain that role for the first two seasons at this stage,” said Oudendyk.
“It will be his responsibility together with Frank Farina, to look at selection for players in the Youth League squad. Frank and Rado will work closely together with the young squad, who at times will train with the first team to accelerate their development.
“Rado has been with the club since the inception of the Hyundai A-League on a part-time basis as Assistant to Frank and has an extensive history with youth development in Queensland. His role will be to focus on the development of young players and youth league players – he will still be Assistant Coach of the Queensland Roar first team and we feel this will mean a good link between the two sides. We are very pleased to have him on board.”
