Princess Ibini is set to feature against Canada after the Sydney FC star was drafted into the Matildas squad for next month’s pair of international friendlies.
Ibini was not in the initial Australia squad that will come up against Canada at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on September 3 and again at the brand-new Allianz Stadium in Sydney on September 6 as the Matildas gear up for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
But the Liberty A-League sharp-shooter will link up with Tony Gustavsson’s Matildas – featuring superstar captain Sam Kerr – after Hayley Raso was ruled out through injury.
Ibini will have the chance to add to her international goals tally, having scored her maiden Matildas goal in the senior team’s last fixture – a 1-1 friendly draw against Portugal in June.
The 22-year-old, who had been called up by the Matildas for the first time in two years, scored five goals as Sydney reached the A-League Women Grand Final last season.
