Dream The Impossible Dream! Can Sydney continue their unthinkable push for the top six? Grab a ticket and find out!

Who would have thought that Sydney FC would be heading into Week 26 of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season still clinging onto dreams of defending their Grand Final crown? Obviously it all depends on the weekend-s results but, if things went the way of the Sky Blues, both in their tussle with local rivals Newcastle and elsewhere, then, incredibly, Vitezslav Lavicka-s players will go into this midweek tussle knowing that their top six dream is still just about alive.

Wellington make up another rival for that final play-off spot, so three points here would leave them with an intriguing trip to AAMI Park to take on Melbourne Heart who – you-ve guessed it – are also vying to sneak into the end-of-season series. So, in a season that never seemed likely to live long in the memory of Sydney supporters, get along to the final home game and, like the players, give it your all for one last time.

It might be an impossible dream, it might be fanciful to hope for a top six place, but, all the time mathematics tell us that it is a possibility, then Sydney FC will not give up.

Of course, the weekend-s results may have already ended the Sky Blues- faint hopes of ending the Hyundai A-League with unlikely glory but, with their focus shifting to the Asian Champions League, it-s time for players, management and fans to be united and look to the future with optimism.

Their last home game of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season represents a great chance to maintain a fine run of form. Wellington don’t travel anywhere especially well, but Sydney is somewhere they seem to hate visiting. After bowing out of the play-offs at Sydney Football Stadium last season, their only trip there this time round resulted in more misery.

Sydney FC haven’t shown up many sides since they won the double last year, but they certainly outclassed Phoenix in December, beating them 3-1 in another midweek match-up thanks largely to Mark Bridge, who stole the show with two assists and his only goal of the season so far.

While Phoenix don’t have much fun on the road, they can at least take heart from the fact that they have beaten the Champions this season. In September, they won 2-1 at the Cake Tin thanks to goals from Paul ifill and a screamer from Nick Ward.

And they will be more desperate for a win than ever on Wednesday, as they are still very much in the running for a finals spot. They-ll have to try and get a result without the services of Manny Muscat and Ben Sigmund though, who are both serving the second of a two game suspension.

It-s going to be an absolute nail-biter at Sydney Football Stadium on Wednesday as at least one of these competitors will be going all out for a top six finish. So get along and experience Hyundai A-League action live and unleashed! Jump up Sydney Cove, one more time!
