BLUFFER’S GUIDE
Albeit not entirely untouchable, Roar have been hugely impressive in their two home outings to date.
An early benchmark has been set in comfortable victories over Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United respectively.
Coach John Aloisi will be keen for those free-flowing standards to remain intact after an underwhelming 0-0 draw away to Sydney FC.
Perth have little option but to quickly shed the frustration of a second straight Westfield FFA Cup Final loss given they already sit seven points shy of Sunday’s opponents.
One solitary win from four Hyundai A-League fixtures is an indication that Kenny Lowe must extract something extra from his squad to begin challenging the likes of the competition’s second-placed side.
OPTA DATA
- Brisbane have only ever lost two home games against Perth – including Finals Series matches – scoring 32 goals.
- Dino Djulbic has netted in both of his previous two encounters against Brisbane for the Glory. However, they could only draw on both occasions.
- The Roar have won each of their last three home league games, scoring two or more in each game.
ROUTE TO GOAL
Brisbane need to find a replacement centre-forward for the first time this season with star striker Jamie Maclaren absent due to Olyroos duty.
While Maclaren misses out on the chance to face his former club, it could create an opportunity for fellow youth international Nick D’Agostino to make his Hyundai A-League debut.
Dimitri Petratos has also been flagged for a potential move up top to join the in-form Brandon Borrello, whose four goals will see him shoulder heightened expectation.
Visiting teams have not been without their chances to halt the momentum of John Alosi’s side at Suncorp Stadium.
Adelaide’s ability to regularly exploit space through Roar’s right side should be of particular interest to the likes of Glory wide-men Sidnei Sciola and Chris Harold.
The possible return of Gyorgy Sandor – named in an extended squad – would be a major boost for Kenny Lowe as the Hungarian leads an even spread of goalscorers.
WHO’S BEEN IN THE SPOTLIGHT THIS WEEK?
Diogo Ferreira has started the past three matches for Perth in all competitions and could do likewise on his return to Brisbane, where he spent one double-winning season.
The 26-year-old will have an important part to play in stifling his old side’s midfield as he seeks to cement a spot in Glory’s engine room.
