Adelaide goalkeeper earns Premier League transfer: Full details

Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion have signed Adelaide United goalkeeper Steven Hall.

Hall makes the move to the Premier League from Isuzu UTE A-League outfit Adelaide for an undisclosed transfer fee on a deal until 2027.

He will initially be part of the Under-21 side in England.

The 19-year-old, who joins fellow Australian Cameron Peupion at Brighton, is the latest Adelaide young gun to earn a transfer to Europe with Reds sensation Nestory Irankunda set to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

“Leaving Adelaide United was a tough decision, but the opportunity to compete in the English Premier League is a dream come true and an opportunity I could not turn down,” said Hall.

“I am grateful for the support of the coaching staff, my teammates, and the incredible fans; Adelaide will always hold a special place in my heart.

“I want to thank all the coaches who gave me the opportunity to break into professional football and helped me develop into the best player I can be.

“In particular, I wish to thank Eugene Galekovic for all his guidance and support, along with the squads’ goalkeepers who I share a special bond with.”

Hall joined Adelaide in 2021-22 and made four senior appearances for the club.

He became the youngest goalkeeper to make their Isuzu UTE A-League debut as a substitute aged 16 years and 350 days.

Goalkeeper coach Eugene Galekovic added: “We wish Steven all the best and thank him for his professionalism, commitment, and the positive influence he has had on his teammates.

“I acknowledge this is a tremendous opportunity for Steven and understand his decision to continue his football development in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

“We thank Steven for his services on and off the pitch.”

Brighton U21 boss Shannon Ruth said: “We’re really looking forward to working with Steven. He is a talented young goalkeeper who suits our style of play and has had some really positive first team exposure with Adelaide.

“He will add good competition to our goalkeeping group and we are excited to see him develop in our environment.

“It’s a big challenge moving across the world, so we will be supporting him as much as possible to find his feet here in the coming weeks and months.”
