Adam Taggart hit two goals in Brisbane Roar’s 3-2 win against Peninsula Power but head coach John Aloisi wants to see higher standards from his charges.
Roar fell behind at A.J. Kelly Park when Luke Plummer’s towering header put the Football Queensland Premier League champions in front on 16 minutes.

Taggart levelled from close range after Eric Bautheac’s square ball found him in space, and the former Perth Glory marksman doubled his tally by capitalising on a goalkeeping error.
The threat posed by Henrique forced an own goal for 3-1 on 47 minutes and Taggart could have had a hat-trick but saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Jake Reesby.
Tom Strickland’s late goal put Brisbane under pressure at the finish but the Hyundai A-League side held on to lift the Dolphins Community Shield.

Aloisi was pleased with the creativity shown by his team but demanded more composure in front of goal.
“When you get into so many goal scoring positions, we have to score six or seven goals,” Aloisi said.
“Full credit to Peninsula Power, they’ve had a terrific season and played well tonight.
“We have to punish teams when we get in those areas and we didn’t do that tonight.”
“It was good to see Adam [Taggart] score, and Henrique was dangerous all night. We know that we’re a good side and we’re going to create opportunities.
“We’re disappointed in the way we conceded the two goals too. We’re playing for fitness, and to keep to our standards, and we dropped off at the end there,” Aloisi added.
Mariners stun Wanderers with lightning quick start
On Friday night, the Central Coast Mariners slammed three goals past Western Sydney Wanderers in a pre-season friendly at Pluim Park.
Mariners bolted out of the gates and Matt Simon headed the Gosport club into a first-minute lead when he converted from Jack Clisby’s cross.
Tom Hiariej added to Wanderers’ woes by blasting in a second goal on 15 minutes from Connor Pain’s pass, and a minute later Michael McGlinchey’s long-range rocket tilted the game even further in the Mariners favour.
